Wings

Antenna TV is running all the Christmas episodes of Wings, the 90s sit-com with Crystal Bernard, Steve Weber, Tim Daly, Thomas Haden Church, David Schramm, Rebecca Schull, and a young Tony Shalhoub. I remember that series as the epitome of the happy 90s.

What the hell ever happened to Crystal Bernard?

by Anonymousreply 1December 26, 2015 5:09 AM

About ten years ago, she said she likes hanging out with her friends and going to the gym.

She may still be singing, too, but I never really followed that side of her career -- I liked her Lifetime "woman in peril" movies best.

by Anonymousreply 2December 26, 2015 5:12 AM

R2, thanks. I did a google search and she is apparently still single. I thought she was hot during Wings.

by Anonymousreply 3December 26, 2015 5:15 AM

THC is a great comedic actor.

by Anonymousreply 4December 26, 2015 5:15 AM

David Schramm is gay, right?

by Anonymousreply 5December 26, 2015 5:16 AM

Eric McCormack would have been a better choice to play Brian than Steven Weber. Weber and Tim Daly looked totally unrelated.

by Anonymousreply 6December 26, 2015 5:26 AM

Crystal Bernard is a fundie who runs back to church for forgiveness after every lesbian affair she has.

by Anonymousreply 7December 26, 2015 5:34 AM

No, r7 -- it's worse than that. Immediately after sex, she jumps out of bed and runs to the private chapel she set up in her house to call to Jesus for forgiveness.

Must be fun for her dates.

by Anonymousreply 8December 26, 2015 5:41 AM

Lowell's crazy wife turned into the limping mean MD on ER...

by Anonymousreply 9December 26, 2015 6:16 AM

USA would show Wings like 10 times a day.

by Anonymousreply 10December 26, 2015 6:32 AM

I saw them all on You Tube about a year or two ago, since I do not have cable.

by Anonymousreply 11December 26, 2015 6:36 AM

I love the opening credits with the Cessna 402.

by Anonymousreply 13December 26, 2015 2:10 PM

I love the image of Crystal Bernard after finishing yet another heavy scissoring session, runs down to her private closet chapel ala Margaret White and pleads for forgiveness...like every night. Crystal, you really need to pull yourself together.

by Anonymousreply 14December 26, 2015 3:06 PM

Is Crystal Bernard the poor man's Park Overall, or vice versa?

by Anonymousreply 15December 26, 2015 3:29 PM

From what I saw, TV writers just used Park Overall just to mouth their smutty thoughts.

by Anonymousreply 16December 26, 2015 3:30 PM

Damn I wanted to get inside Lowell's jumpsuit.

by Anonymousreply 17December 26, 2015 3:32 PM

Stevie Weber can suck the chrome off a door knob.

by Anonymousreply 18December 26, 2015 4:22 PM

At least 3 hot men on that show. Tony Shalhoub was cute.

by Anonymousreply 19December 26, 2015 4:29 PM

I always thought this show was boring. Never liked it.

by Anonymousreply 21December 26, 2015 4:51 PM

r4 Some actors can't be comedic without it.

by Anonymousreply 22December 26, 2015 5:39 PM

[quote]I always thought this show was boring. Never liked it.

No big sandwich for you then.

by Anonymousreply 23December 26, 2015 5:48 PM

I forgot it was a Angell/Casey/Lee production (the Cheers/Fraiser people) until I saw the credits.

I'm still sad about losing David Angell.

by Anonymousreply 24December 26, 2015 5:54 PM

WHET Thomas Haden Church?

by Anonymousreply 25December 26, 2015 5:59 PM

Thomas Haden Church is still acting. He's in "Daddy's Home" that's out now with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. He was in the awful "Max" that came out earlier this year.

by Anonymousreply 26December 26, 2015 6:02 PM

I adored Fay. She wasn't on the show much the final season or so and I assumed she was ill but I saw her in something recently and she looked great and still seemed sharp.

by Anonymousreply 27December 26, 2015 6:06 PM

It was a long time before I saw the actress who played Fay in anything else (she had a recurring role on USA network's "Suits"), but the guy who played Roy really dropped off the face of the earth.

by Anonymousreply 28December 26, 2015 6:10 PM

I'm 100% homo, but I thought Crystal Bernard was cute and sexy. Of course, I also didn't mind staring at Tim Daly, either.

I thought this thread was about the Paul McCartney band from the seventies...

by Anonymousreply 29December 26, 2015 6:17 PM

[quote]Tony Shalhoub

He ruined the show for me. That fake accent was so hard to take, I had to turn it off. It was so much better without him.

[quote]Eric McCormack would have been a better choice to play Brian than Steven Weber. Weber and Tim Daly looked totally unrelated.

Well Weber and Daley look more like brothers than McCormack looks like Daley.

by Anonymousreply 30December 26, 2015 6:21 PM

David Schramm was in Patti LuPone's class at Juilliard.

by Anonymousreply 31December 26, 2015 6:33 PM

Fisher Stevens, Hank Azaria, George Clooney, David Duchovny, and Greg Germann all auditioned for the role of Brian.

by Anonymousreply 32December 26, 2015 7:31 PM

Bryan Cranston, Daniel Stern, Nick Cassavetes, and Boyd Gaines auditioned for the role of Joe.

The character of Lowell was written for Thomas Haden Church

Peri Gilpin, Lisa Darr, Julianne Moore, Gina Gershon, Marcia Cross, Marcia Gay Harden, Rita Wilson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Megan Mullally all auditioned for the role of Helen. Gilpin was the producer's favorite, but NBC didn't like her for the role,

by Anonymousreply 33December 26, 2015 7:33 PM

[quote]David Schramm was in Patti LuPone's class at Juilliard.

And they were both up for the title role in "Evita."

by Anonymousreply 34December 26, 2015 7:34 PM

I auditioned for the role of Helen but NBC said, I was more right for the role of May. Can you believe that?

by Anonymousreply 35December 26, 2015 7:35 PM

I wanted the Helen role and couldn't believe they asked me to audition. Like they never seen my work on Hazel

by Anonymousreply 36December 26, 2015 7:46 PM

Turns out Schramm's been doing theatre.

Barrie, they probably didn't hire you because they didn't want to give you a damn vanity credit, since nobody has ever known who the eff you are and absolutely no one was ever held accountable for giving you one on "It's a Living"

by Anonymousreply 38December 26, 2015 10:14 PM

R38 Actually, they DID want me, but I had to turn them down because they refused to let me do my signature twirl/spin in the opening credits.

Serviceable show, but DAMN, were Tim Daly and Steven Weber sexy as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 41December 27, 2015 9:27 AM

Did anyone see an Academy Award nomination coming for the guy who played Lowell?

by Anonymousreply 42December 27, 2015 10:22 AM

This was one of those sows where the supporting characters were more fun than the mains, but the whole thing would have been adrift without Daily and Weber.

by Anonymousreply 43December 27, 2015 11:17 AM

I liked Lowell's show on FOX with the straight lady from that gay NBC show.

by Anonymousreply 44December 27, 2015 1:44 PM

Shull and Schramm are both gay.

by Anonymousreply 46December 27, 2015 2:19 PM

Bump!

Does anyone have any behind-the-scenes gossip about the show? I read somewhere that Crystal Bernard and Farrah Forke (Alex) didn't get along.

Oh, and here's some season 3 bloopers!

"The happy 90s"? What was that?

by Anonymousreply 48April 28, 2016 7:29 PM

I had many 3way fantasies involving Joe and Brian.

by Anonymousreply 49April 28, 2016 8:09 PM

Crystal Bernard was perfect as Helen. I loved Faye! Both Weber and Daly were gorgeous... especially Daly.

by Anonymousreply 50April 28, 2016 8:23 PM

Crystal Bernard is another fundie bitch like Janine Turner.

by Anonymousreply 51April 28, 2016 8:44 PM

Tim Daly sure was hot when he was young

David Schramm is underrated.

Wings remind me of the happy 70s.

I’ve been catching this show for the first time and enjoying it a lot. Daly and weber were so damn hot and Bernard adorable and funny.

by Anonymousreply 58September 28, 2018 11:19 AM

I wish they would relaunch this show.
