Recently, speculations sparked that Joy and her boyfriend Crush already ended their two-year relationship after she allegedly unfollowed him on Instagram.

Although some clarified that this was caused by Crush suddenly deactivating his account, the rumor intensified when people claimed that this happened after the male singer un-liked all of Joy's posts and when she unfollowed him, he then deactivated his IG.
On December 3, the breakup rumor continued when fans noticed that the "Kill Chill" singer posted a photo with her co-member Wendy amid the speculations.
In the post, Joy showed affection to her co-member by staring at her lovingly. She also boasted Wendy's photography skills by adding her pictures taken by the celebrity.
But what captured fans' attention was Joy using the song, "I Fall in Love Too Easily," along with the caption, "I fall in love @/todayis_wendy."
While some would normally think her song choice was because of her caption related to Wendy, there are fans who suggested that this must have been her hinting at her breakup with Crush.
The reason was that the song was originally released by Chet Baker, an artist that her boyfriend Crush likes. In fact, he also covered the same song before.

Fans React to Red Velvet Joy & Crush Breakup Rumor
When these "proofs" were shared online, the couple received mixed reactions from both K-pop fans and netizens.
There are fans who expressed regrets, saying:
- "Joy and Crush broke up?"
- "No way, is that serious?"
- "I really hope not but whatever is best for them, we got to respect their decision."
- "Why did she dump him? Is it because of the backlash?"
Prior to the breakup rumor, Crush was criticized for objectifying female idols and treating them like "trophies" when Sung Si Kyung claimed that "one can just become an artist to date idols."
Even before that, ReVeluvs (Red Velvet fandom) showed hostility to him as Joy's boyfriend due to his past racism and misogynist attitude.
Due to this, fans are cheering and commenting:
- "She's free!"
- "We all cheered!"
- "It's about time."
- "It's a Christmas miracle."
- "Yes queen, elevate.".
- "The world is healing."
- "She put the song I fall in love too easily? The shade."
Meanwhile, Red Velvet Joy and Crush confirmed their relationship in 2021 after working together for a music collaboration in 2020.
Since then, they maintained a low-key relationship, rarely posting photos together.
