Mayor McLean has chosen Latonia Haney Keith and Colin Nash to fill two Boise City Council vacancies, according to a recent news release. Keith was chosen tofill the remainder of the term for District 3 and Nash for the at-large seat.

McLean's decision was made after reviewing 54 applications, conducting two rounds of in-person interviews, checking references and conferring with council leadership.

“I am so inspired by the amazing breadth of talent, dedication to our community and willingness to serve the 54 applicants represented,” said Mayor McLean. “After spending time with several of the candidates, and at a time when our highest priority is the availability and affordability of homes for Boiseans, I selected Latonia Keith and Colin Nash for their deep professional experience with housing policy, their readiness to hit the ground running, and importantly, their ability to secure the support of the City Council.”

Latonia Haney Keith currently serves on the senior leadership team of The College of Idaho as Vice President of High Impact Practices. A graduate of Harvard Law School, Keith has dedicated herself to service in a variety of professional settings, from launching and leading a world-wide pro bono practice to spearheading a housing and homelessness law practice during her time with Concordia Law School.

She currently serves as chair of Boise’s Capital City Development Corporation board and has helped steer the agency’s investments in affordable housing. She lives in Boise's North End with her husband, Ben, their two kids and two Australian Labradoodles. Keith will become the first Black woman to serve on Boise City Council.

Colin Nash is an attorney who has been elected to represent Boise’s West Bench in the Idaho Legislature twice. As a state lawmaker, Nash strengthened Idaho’s sexual assault laws, defended the City of Boise’s renter protection ordinance, helped advance housing affordability measures and developed a track record of fiscal responsibility in his work on state budget setting.

Colin and his wife Hailey are renters in Boise’s Winstead Park neighborhood where they live with their two young children.

City Council will take up the appointments at a Special Council Meeting to be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 6.
