Due to laryngitis, Madonna was forced to cancel her Aug. 3 concert at the Continental Airlines Arena at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J. And she really did cancel the concert as no makeup date was offered as the disappointed fans were advised on how to get ticket refunds.
This would have been her seventh sold-out show in the New York metropolitan area — five concerts at New York's Madison Square Garden and the night before at the Meadowlands. Concertgoers at the show the night before reported that the Material Girl's voice seemed in fine form. However, the New York Daily News reported she wore a medical bandage on her arm as a result of a minor muscle injury sustained during rehearsals.
Madonna's Drowned World Tour is supposed to resume Aug. 7 at the FleetCenter in Boston.
