Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks to have ever played the game, but even he had his fair share of slip-ups, something he recalled when watching Will Levis’ tape.

The NFL draft is right around the corner, and it’s anyone’s guess as to who’s going to be first off the board. Currently, the two favorites are Alabama product Bryce Young and Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud.
However, right after them, comes Kentucky QB Will Levis. Levis played a couple years at Penn State before transferring to Kentucky where he proved he can be a star.
In his first season with Kentucky, he passed for an incredible 2,827 yards and 24 touchdowns while also adding another 376 yards on the ground.
Levis’ draft profile is greatly boosted by his physical gifts. He’s tall and big, and he can launch the ball. Levis does struggle with accuracy, but he has Manning’s approval.
A common comparison for Will Levis among many NFL scouts and executives has reportedly been Matthew Stafford.
The Colts also reportedly have Levis ranked “over” Anthony Richardson because of his ability to play earlier.

Peyton Manning gushes over Will Levis
Currently, the Colts are the favorites to pick Will Levis. They stand at number four in the draft order right now, and it’s widely expected that the Panthers will draft one of Stroud or Young while the Texans will draft the other.
Recently, Manning came out to talk about how good of a fit he thought Will Levis would be with the Colts, and he absolutely believes that Levis has all the traits to succeed with Indy.
“I think this guy might have been genetically engineered to be an NFL quarterback,” Manning said on an episode of On the Clock highlighting Levis’ play. “It’s easy to see why the scouts like him. Tough, durable. Makes tight throws in tight windows.”
“I get it. I’m drinking the Kool-Aid. I’ve spent some time with this kid. I think he’s the real deal.”
Only time will tell if the Colts actually end up drafting Levis or not, and if he ends up succeeding with them or not. Levis has all the raw traits, and with some development and commitment from his end, he can make it big in the league.
Manning recalls an embarrassing story while watching Levis’ tape
While looking at Levis play, Peyton Manning was reminded of an embarrassing moment in his own career. Levis’ accuracy is the biggest thing holding him back, and so when Peyton and Eli Manning were watching his tape, they noticed that Levis always tried to make up for his mistakes by chasing the defender down who picked him down.
“If you force one, you at least better make up for it by making a tackle,” Peyton said as they saw Levis make a tackle. “I tried that one after I threw a pick against the Chiefs. Didn’t work out so well.”
Manning was talking about the time when Ty Law intercepted him once and returned it for a touchdown with Manning failing to make the tackle.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Manning sighed. “Don’t look for the clip.”
