Conor Coady has praised Liverpool for the manner in which they stick to their guns when playing a high line following their 2-2 draw against Manchester City on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (10/04/22 at 7:10 pm).

The Wolves defender added that ‘they do that every single week’ and shared how they are ‘so calm’ when defending and pushing so high up the pitch.

Liverpool came back from behind on two occasions at the Etihad to pick up a point against their Premier League title rivals.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp would have felt that his players weren’t good enough in the first half, they did the business and came out fighting in the second.

Coady, who came through Liverpool’s academy, was asked about Klopp playing a very high line and risking being opened up by the huge amounts of space they leave in-behind.

“That’s all they know,” said Coady. “That’s all they ever do. You heard Jurgen Klopp in his interview saying ‘we weren’t going to change’. They certainly did that.

“They do that every single week, Liverpool. They are so good at doing that. They are so calm when defending without the ball. They are usually in control of the game as well.

“I think you have seen that today. I think it’s refreshing to see, two heavyweights as you mentioned, they don’t change and go for it.

“It’s about winning. An outstanding game of football. If I am playing in that team and that’s all I am used to, then that’s the norm for them.”

This was the first leg of Liverpool’s two showdowns against Man City, as they will now face off against Man City next week in the FA Cup.

Whilst the Premier League encounter was a fairly open encounter, it wouldn’t be a surprise if next Saturday’s game at Wembley is more gung-ho.

But, given the chance that both teams can add multiple trophies to their cabinet this term, it’s sure going to be another feisty affair.

However, before all of that, the duo still have to complete their respective jobs in the Champions League, with Atletico Madrid being the tougher job for Man City.
