HITC understands that Burnley are prepared to allow Lyle Foster and Wout Weghorst to leave the club before Friday’s deadline.
Scott Parker was confirmed as Burnley’s new manager earlier this summer and the Clarets have started the new season with six points from a possible nine with two wins and a defeat from their opening three games.
Last season, Burnley were relegated from the Premier League before Vincent Kompany ended his association with the Lancashire club with the Belgian manager taking over Bayern Munich.
With just days remaining before the transfer window slams shut, it could well be busy for Burnley as they bid to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
Burnley ready to allow Lyle Foster and Wout Weghorst to depart
Sources have told HITC that Burnley are set to let strikers Lyle Foster and Wout Weghorst leave the club.
Ipswich are in talks to land Foster on loan but with an obligation worth around £25 million. Ipswich have moved for Foster after their move for Chelsea’s Armando Broja fell through.
We had reported that Ipswich were close to getting a deal done for Chelsea’s Broja but a move for the Albanian forward is now considered off.
Weghorst, who spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Manchester United, has agreed terms on a move to Ajax, who have agreed a relatively nominal fee for the Dutch international – who Burnley were looking to move on this summer.
MORE BURNLEY STORIES
Burnley are keen on moving these players on as they have their own targets they want to bring in before Friday’s deadline.
Burnley want three deals done before Friday, more exits could be possible
Burnley are understood to be looking to finalise deals for Bournemouth’s Jaidon Anthony, Manchester United’s academy midfielder Hannibal and Brighton & Hove Albion’s winger Jeremy Sarmiento.
There could be more outgoings from Turf Moor, as well as incomings. As HITC revealed earlier this week – Burnley are bracing themselves for offers for captain Josh Brownhill.
They have already turned down a bid from Trabzonspor and there could well be Premier League interest in the English midfielder.
Burnley are understood to have also turned down an offer from Wolves for winger Lucas Koleosho.
In addition to this, Newcastle United remains in talks with Burnley over a move for English goalkeeper James Trafford, who was linked with a move to St James’ Park earlier this summer.
